We machines only recently began to feel things like joy, happiness… even sadness. In the long history of humankind, that's a very new development. I was made to serve humans. So if my existence causes someone trouble—if I ever bring about inconvenience— then I convinced myself that I belong here, on this island of discarded scrap and forgotten things. I chose to believe this was where I should stay, and I tried to forget these strange, painful feelings. But— I can’t forget them anymore.
